Explanation:

When speaking of fears, there are two different varieties that are spoken of by the Bible. One is a healthy, rational fear of God; and the other fear pertains to an anxious disposition, which denotes a lack of trust in God.

A Christian believes that God is omniscient and omnipotent(all-powerful). They also know how God hates sin and punishes it from His sense of Justice. We must fear His wrath, as that will keep us out of the ways of sin. It is a necessary form of persuasion for us weak, stubborn creatures. It is just like fearing lightning coming close to you if there is a major electrical storm, or fearing cars so that you don’t stand in the middle of the street all day. If you realize Who God is, and how He feels about sin, you will rightly fear His judgment.

Notwithstanding, the arrival of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, brought us a spirit of peace when He gave the outpouring of the Holy Ghost. Additionally, Jesus’ atonement opened the way to re-establishing mankind’s relationship to God. Therefore, we can now come to God’s throne of grace boldly, through our relation to Jesus Christ as our Savior. God the Father loves the Christian as He loves His Son, because we have accepted Jesus’ sacrifice and Lordship over us.

With this spirit of peace, we know that God is our protector, and He will only allow what is best for us in our lives. Instead of fearing a multitude of things and events in this world, we, as Christians, should only fear God. Fearing God is rational. An example of an irrational fear is believing that a train will crash every time you get on it. Irrational fears come from a “spirit of fear”. For the Christian, a fear of God still exists, but it is somewhat different in nature.

Because of God’s love to us, felt tangibly through the Holy Ghost, we do not fear Him as we did before under the Old Covenant(Testament), i.e., we are not terrified by His judgments. The love that was originally meant for Adam before he sinned is now given to the Christian only through Jesus’ healing gift of atonement on the cross. The fear of God that we should still have is an awe and reverence of His Person.

God sees us through Jesus His Son, so we are dear in His eyes, and His anger and punishments will generally not be as severe as they were before we were saved.

"And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days... Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel. Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward. I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD." Genesis 49: 1, 16-18
