The skeptic's confusion:

It's OK to call someone a fool.

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." Psalm 14:1, Psalm 53:1

"Ye fools and blind." Matthew 23:17, 19

"Ye fools." Luke11:40

"O fools, and slow of heart to believe." Luke 24:25

"Their foolish heart was darkened." Romans 1:21-22

"Thou fool." 1 Corinthians 15:36

"O foolish Galatians." Galatians 3:1

It's not OK to call someone a fool.

"Whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." Matthew 5:22

Explanation:

It is not OK for us to call someone a fool, but it is alright for God to do so, since He knows men’s hearts as their Creator. Jesus is God, so He was allowed to say it to those who lacked understanding.

All of scripture is written by inspiration of God; He speaks through His prophets and apostles in a spirit of prophecy. As a result, it is OK for the psalmist and the Apostle Paul to say “thou fool” or “foolish” because it is undeniably God who is the Author of the books of the Bible, though He chooses His prophets as His mouthpiece.

"And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days... Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel. Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward. I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD." Genesis 49: 1, 16-18
